The Direct Purchase “Experience”

The landowners whose lands are going to be utilized for the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg scheme were immediately compensated for their piece of land by way of depositing the respective amounts in their bank accounts as soon as the purchase transactions were completed. Many beneficiaries have come forward to share their experience of dealing with the MSRDC under the direct purchase scheme. This blog explores the same.

Owing to previous experiences with the administration, the common man earlier thought of the system and its work as inefficient and time-consuming. However, the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg scheme has contributed towards changing the negative image of the administration in the minds of people. Due to their previous experiences with dealing with the administration’s work and lack of complete information regarding the project, people opposed the scheme in their own ways during the initial phase. However, they came around once they received correct and complete information about the scheme. The direct purchase process gained momentum once the landowners were assured that they would receive immediate compensation once the purchase deal is completed. On receiving the entire compensation amount in a single transaction in their bank accounts, the people came forward on their own to share their experiences.

In a phased manner, the administration gained the trust of the landowners and helped them through the entire process in the following way:

  • With the help of the village communicators, the MSRDC ensured that each landowner was informed about the total area of their land that would be utilized for the highway, the process of joint measurement and valuation of land as well as other components.
  • The MSRDC informed the landowners about the amount of compensation that they would be receiving and co-operated by providing them with information about their ownership and gathering the relevant document proofs for the same.
  • Officials from the government offices as well as senior officials from the MSRDC kept an eye on each pending job and worked diligently towards ensuring that it gets completed.
  • The MSRDC appointed village communicators helped prepare and equip the consenting landowners for the direct purchase. The government officials worked towards ensuring immediate compensation to these landowners.

The landowners have not just kept their good experience of dealing with the administration’s work to themselves, but have come forward to share it with people. Click on the link below to view a representative story of one such “Samruddha” – meaning “prosperous” beneficiary.
