What exactly is a Class II land?

If the landowner has received a piece of land as a prize from a Maharaja, or as a reward from the government, then such piece of land is known as a Class II land. The owner of a Class II land has to obtain the approval from the relevant administrative officer before selling the said land or transferring ownership. Similarly, a part of the amount received on selling or transferring such piece of land has to be deposited with the administrative court.

  • Since it was mandatory for owners of Class II land to obtain permission from the government before selling it under the direct purchase scheme for the highway project, they were assisted in this regard by the village communicators.

  • Administrative help was provided to the landowners in order to prepare document proofs necessary to obtain permission to sell their land from the District Collector and other government officials.
  • The landowners were guided with regard to the payment of a token amount to the government while selling their land to the MSRDC.
