The Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg will link the state of Maharashtra to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Mahamarg and the Western Dedicated Freight Mahamarg. Parts of Maharashtra will have direct connectivity to these Mahamarg and JNPT, the country’s largest container port. This, in turn, will enhance the EXIM trade of the state.

The expressway and its feeder network will promote overall tourist development connecting various tourist locations. The mahamarg will boost the economic activity in the undeveloped and underdeveloped parts of the state. Krushi Samruddhi Kendra and agro-based industries that will be set up around the mahamarg will provide self and wage employment and help improve agricultural incomes. Non-farm based employment opportunities will be created in rural areas. This, in turn, will help decrease inequality and poverty within the state.

It is estimated that around 20,000 to 25,000 people will get employment from each Krushi Samruddhi Kendra.

Land owners

Landowners voluntarily participating in the project by giving consents of their land for land pooling, will be given back developed land equivalent to 30% in exchange of their total land pooled for the Krushi Samruddhi Kendra and 25% for the land pooled for the expressway. In these Krushi Samruddhi Kendra, they will have access to better amenities in terms of parks, playgrounds, open spaces, water, roads, power, etc. Landowners will receive Rs 30,000 per acre for rain fed, Rs. 45,000 per acre for seasonal irrigated and Rs 60,000 per acre for irrigated as crop compensation for a period of 10 years. This will be increased 10% every year to take into account inflation. One person from the landowner’s family will be eligible for free vocational training. At the end of 10 years, if the landowner wishes to but is unable to sell the developed plot in the open market, the state government has given a guarantee to buy back the allotted plot for a value determined on the date of signing the agreement as per the LARR 2013 with simple interest of 9% per annum for a period of 10 years.

Development of Krushi Samruddhi Kendra will further increase access to resources for the landowners. They will benefit from various self and wage employment and business activities that will be set up in these Kendra, such as agro-processing units, cold storage chains, warehousing, logistics, veterinary dispensaries and the like. Agriculture related businesses will flourish. Producer - consumer linkages will be established. The Krushi Samruddhi Kendra will also improve the realty market.

Commuters will be able to cover the distance of 700 km between Nagpur and Mumbai within 8 hours. Thus, travel time from Mumbai to Aurangabad will be 4 hours and from Aurangabad to Nagpur, another 4 hours. Roads of international quality will ensure reduction in costs in terms of fuel savings and vehicle maintenance. The zero-fatality mahamarg will ensure safe and speedy transport. Tree plantation along the mahamarg will reduce pollution. Commuters will have easier access to tourist places. Wi-Fi connectivity along the mahamarg and numerous wayside amenities will make travel productive.

The Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg will link various agro and industrial nodes of the state to key consumer markets of Nagpur and Mumbai. The Krushi Samruddhi Kendra will provide quality business accommodation, world-class infrastructure and high amenity environment with good transport links to the investors. Human resource and skilled as well as unskilled manpower will be easily available.

The project will generate both direct and indirect employment, during the construction phase and post development. Development of the new towns will create several opportunities for people within the districts and in the surrounding areas, thereby boosting overall development and reducing forced-migration. The quality of life will improve for the people in the district.

The expressway will benefit the ten districts that it passes through by catalyzing development. The direct links established by the mahamarg to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Mahamarg, the Western Dedicated Freight Mahamarg and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust will facilitate rapid transportation of goods, agricultural produce, dairy products and people for markets across the country and abroad. This, in turn, will accelerate economic development of the districts resulting in better self and wage employment opportunities and increased local GDP.
